A 25 Movie List

Since we are only allowed to go to 25 for the list and the cat is the one to break the rules, not Pat, I’ll go with movies. These are favorite ones that pop on in, but not in any order and surely not the only ones. Away we go with a movie list.

listing blog hop

Movie #1

Die Hard

Before Bruce Willis started phoning it in and was all about the money. Also before he needed a sidekick for every movie. Maybe he is just too old for this…

Movie #2

Back to the Future

Who wouldn’t want to go back in time and play Johnny B Good?

Movie #3

Shawshank Redemption

Get busy living or get busy digging a hole with crappy tools.

Movie #4

Midnight Run

Don’t mess with the guy who owns Beethoven, for two movies anyway.

Movie #5

Guardians of the Galaxy

Raccoons can stalk and steal legs, who knew?

Movie #6

The Avengers

The all teamed up for the first time, can’t beat that.

Movie #7

Beverly Hills Cop

Go to Beverly Hills and get thrown through a window. What’s the charge for jaywalking again?

Movie #8

Lethal Weapon

Before they were too old for this….

Movie #9

Care to be the sketch artist needed for the tallywhacker? It had a very distinctive mole.

Movie #10

Adventures in Babysitting

Don’t **** with the babysitter.

Movie #11

My Fellow Americans

Two old farts bickering while getting shot at.

Movie #12

Never answer a random call.

Movie #13

Edge of Tomorrow

Aliens caused Bill Murray’s Groundhog day, we finally have an answer.

Movie #14

Major League

Don’t mess with Jobu.

Movie #15

Office Space

Who hasn’t wanted to burn their office building down? Nope, not me.

Movie #16

Secondhand Lions

Flying a plane upside down through a barn is never a good idea.

Movie #17

Terminator 2

Where it should have ended.

Movie #18

Fast and Furious 5

Before they were superheros and tackled the longest runway in history.

Movie #19

The Goonies

Treasure! Need I say more?

Movie #20

The Negotiator

You were wrong about me, what if I’m right about them?

Movie #21

The Princess Bride

Stop rhyming? Not if the cat is chiming.

Movie #22

Toy Story

Woody got a Buzz. Fun toys, right?

Movie #23

Bill Murray dies. The Ghostbusters reboot proven to be lies.

Movie #24

First Blood

Never mess with a crazy guy going through town.

Movie #25

Weekend at Bernies

Two schmucks and a dead guy throw a party.

And there is my movie list for today. I could go to 200 easy at my bay but we can’t have that. I’ll leave the rule breaking, or at least pretend to, to the cat. Seen any on the list? Any make yours? Any you’d add at your pad or swap out?

Enjoy life, forget the strife.

Thanks for listing with me, Pat! I agree with you about Terminator 2. The end (spoiler alert!) where Linda Hamilton reload that shotgun one handed… classic! And The Princess Bride, an all time favorite.

The original Diehard was a good movie! One writing books uses that as a classic plot example. (Can’t think of which one at the moment….)

Die Hard got ripped off so many times it is a good example to use

You’ve got some good ones here. There are a few I have not seen, but most I have. You need to submit these to Stephen T McCarthy’s list that he’s compiling.

You’ve got some good films on your list, but not the best one ever made: “Three hazelnuts for Cinderella” (European fairy tale retelling).

Yo, PAT ~
First of all, my sincere and profuse apologies for being so late getting over here. I’m in the middle of a job change (taking blood tests, getting fingerprinted, taking online tests, etc.) and that in conjunction with BOTB and the LISTING HOP all occurring at about the same time has put me well behind the 8 ball in… EVERYTHING!

So, I’m late but I’m here. (Can we just call it “fashionable”?) Thanks for making me aware of your list, Brother. ‘BACK TO THE FUTURE’, ‘MIDNIGHT RUN’, ‘OFFICE SPACE’, and ‘DIE HARD’ all ones that I’ve also seen and really liked.

Man, I hate to even ask this but… you did say it was YOU compiling this list, right? And not the cat, who doesn’t play by the rules?

Well, the rules are the same as they were when my friend Kevin and I did this project in 1994 and 2004, and that is… the lists need to be broken into two sections: “THE TOP TEN” and “THE NEXT FIFTEEN”.

The movies don’t need to be put in absolute order of preference (e.g., “My very favorite movie is ____”; “My second favorite movie is ____”; “My third favorite is ____”), that would just be too difficult for everyone.

So, although we need to know which movies make the Top Ten and which The Next Fifteen, you don’t need to rank them within those groups. You can just alphabetize them, if you’d like. That’s actually helpful.

(The reason for this is because movies that make a person’s ‘Top Ten’ are awarded 3 points, while movies in ‘The Next Fifteen’ get only 2 points. In the end, Kevin and I will add up all the points and produce a COLLECTIVE Top 25 Movie List, ascertained from all of the individual lists we’ve received.)

Also, I need to know which state you live in. We will publish just the first name and surname initial, and the person’s state of residence.

There’s no rush, but if you can make those adjustments for me, it would be greatly appreciated (as is your participation). Feel free to post your adjusted list in the comment section of any of my blog bits, or you can Email it to me.

And… thanks again, and… sorry again for being so late in getting here, my friend!
