No Breaks?

So I read a ridiculous thing the other day while looking a Twitter feeds for a few quick seconds. Twitter and ridiculous as one, who would have guessed?

If you want to make it in writing you can’t ever take breaks.

Right! And if you want to make it in any job, never take a break. By that philosophy all these travel hot spots people go to for vacation would dry up. No one would be taking breaks what so ever and have no time to travel.

Now staying ahead of the 8 ball, remaining relevant and staying in the eye of your fan base, if you have a fan base, is a good thing. But never taking breaks no matter what you are doing is dumb.

And then we come back to what some consider making it. The ninja wannabe said it was 5 novels that is the standard according to some. Again, all relative really.

A break here and there is not going to hurt anything. They are needed to keep the batteries charged sometimes. It’s no good to never do anything else as then you just miss out on life. Even tightwad work places give you lunch and vacation days.

Do you agree that there should be no breaks if you are trying to “make it” as a writer?

Enjoy life, forget the strife.

I guess that’s why I haven’t made it. 🙁 I take breaks, and I don’t intend to stop. Heh, heh!

I took many breaks, many years, in producing the book I’m about to release, and the breaks made the book better.

Besides, where would inspiration come from if all you did was crank out the midnight oil???

I took a break last week and it was very much needed! But I did have my two short stories due at the end of the month already finished.
